Halo AI extension privacy policy

Halo AI is provided by LittleToolz, operated by Primeox. Contact: [email protected].

Purpose and information handled

Halo helps users understand webpages, supported text-based PDFs, and video transcripts through questions, summaries, information extraction, and selected-tab comparisons.

To provide these features, Halo reads content from pages users ask it to read, including page text, headings, tables, lists, links, page titles, URLs, document text, and available video captions. It also handles questions entered into the assistant and responses generated during a conversation. Content users choose to read can include personal information or private communications; users should select sources accordingly.

The floating Halo control appears on supported websites. Opening the assistant identifies the relevant tab and whether it is a supported video page. Content reading and related-page searches are performed for the requested reading features. Halo does not use the Chrome browsing-history API to obtain a complete browsing history.

Optional audio transcription

For supported videos without readable captions, users can explicitly choose on-device audio transcription. Halo captures audio from the chosen browser tab, plays the video for transcription, and processes audio locally. It does not request microphone access or upload captured audio to a cloud transcription service. Audio is processed in memory rather than saved as an audio recording. Recognized transcript text is held in Chrome session storage. Users can stop transcription.

Local processing and storage

Page analysis, AI inference, and speech recognition run on the user's device. This extension build does not send page text, questions, generated answers, or captured audio to a developer-operated backend or a cloud AI service. Its development recorder is disabled, and it does not include a developer analytics or advertising service.

Chrome local storage retains settings such as answer mode and panel layout. Conversation content and answer caches are held in panel memory. Recognized audio transcripts are stored for the browser session. Selected-page chunks are also stored locally in IndexedDB; the extension clears them during normal session cleanup and removes stale session records when a later reading session opens. Interrupted sessions can leave local records until cleanup runs.

Users can clear extension data or uninstall Halo to remove extension-owned settings and local content. Closing the panel ends its in-memory conversation; browser session storage is cleared when the browser session ends. Files users export or copy are under their control and are not removed by Halo. Downloaded model caches may require separate browser cache management.

Network requests and external services

Halo may request the current page, related pages on the same website, accessible PDF files, or video captions to answer a user's request. The optional speech model is downloaded from its model-hosting service on first use and may then be cached. Chrome may also download models for its built-in on-device AI features.

These requests expose ordinary network information, such as an IP address and the requested resource, to the destination service. YouTube caption requests can use the browser's existing same-origin session. Destination services handle these requests under their own policies. Local AI processing does not mean the extension makes no internet requests.

Use and sharing

Halo uses accessed content to provide its disclosed reading and assistant features. This extension build does not sell user content, use it for advertising or credit decisions, or upload it for model training. It does not provide developer access to locally held conversations or recordings. Users control copying and exporting their responses.

Our use of information obtained through Halo complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Information is used for Halo's disclosed user-facing purpose and is not sold, transferred for unrelated purposes, or used to determine creditworthiness or for lending.

If users contact support, their email address and the information they choose to provide are handled under the LittleToolz website privacy policy. Users should avoid including unnecessary sensitive information in support messages.
